The UK's northernmost whisky distillery, on the former RAF Saxa Vord base on Unst — closer to Bergen than to Edinburgh. Shetland Distillery Company started with Shetland Reel Gin in 2014; single malt whisky distillation began in 2019, with first releases in the early 2020s.
