Founded in 1949 by William Delmé-Evans on the site of a 1488 brewery reputedly supplying beer to the young James IV. French-owned since 2011, which shows up in the wine-cask-finished core range (225 Sauternes, 228 Burgundy). Sits right on the A9.
Tullibardine is a quietly reliable Perthshire distillery in Blackford village, founded 1949 on the site of a medieval brewery. French ownership since 2011 has brought investment and improvement — the Burgundy Finish, Sauternes Finish, and Sovereign expressions show ambition beyond the core range. The 225 Sauternes is the pick. Good visitor centre in a pleasant Perthshire setting.
