A converted Georgian farmstead on the Fife coast just south of St Andrews, owned by the Wemyss family (of Wemyss Malts independent bottling). Core “Dream to Dram” release leans sherry-cask fruity; the visitor centre is among the best-designed in the Lowlands.

Our verdict

Kingsbarns is a beautifully restored Georgian farmstead on the Fife coastal strip just south of St Andrews, owned by the Wemyss family (of Wemyss Malts independent bottling fame). The Dream to Dram story — from failed crowdfunding to family investment to award-winning whisky — is compelling. The spirit is light, coastal, and honeyed; the visitor experience is excellent and the location is outstanding.
