Aberdeenshire's market town — home of the Thainstone Centre and its farmers market
Inverurie is a small Aberdeenshire town with an outsized food and drink footprint, thanks to the Thainstone Centre on its outskirts. Thainstone Farmers Market, run on site by Thainstone Events (part of the ANM Group co-operative), draws around 40 local vendors on Sunday dates through the season. It is a separate event from the Aberdeen Country Fair, which runs on Belmont Street in Aberdeen itself. The Taste of Grampian festival, which used to take over the same venue each early June and drew 25,000+ visitors for one day of food and drink, is no longer running (not on the 2026 calendar as of this check). Glen Garioch Distillery in nearby Oldmeldrum is the area's whisky stop. Aberdeenshire Larder, the Inverurie deli-café, is a reliable lunch with strong local produce. The town itself is unremarkable as a destination — but on a market Sunday the Thainstone Centre is a genuine Aberdeenshire food and drink address.
