Town guide
Elgin food & drink
Moray's whisky hub — Glen Moray, Gordon & MacPhail, and the Moray coast
Elgin is the largest town in Moray and the practical base for any Speyside whisky trip — most of the famous distilleries sit within 30 miles, with rail and road links radiating out from the town. Glen Moray Distillery is on the western edge of town and is one of the more accessible distillery visits in the region. Gordon & MacPhail, one of Scotland's most respected independent bottlers and historic whisky merchants, is headquartered in Elgin and runs a serious-collector shop on South Street. The Moray Firth coast 15 minutes north provides Findhorn smoked fish and direct-from-boat seafood. The Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival in May centres on Elgin and Dufftown.
